INCLUSIVE CHILDCARE FOR CHILDREN AGED 3 – 18 YEARS

Our Mission Statement is:-

“To provide Inclusive Play and Care for All”

To do this we will:-

“Work with parents, carers, children and providers in a multi-agency/sector partnership approach to ensure that children with special needs and disabilities have access to local and community based “Out of School” care and provision that is appropriate, inclusive and meets the needs of the child.”

How can we deliver an inclusive environment for all children?

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO03

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
We can combine the detailed knowledge that parents/carers have and the needs of the child with information about local provisions and local and national organisations.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
We respond to the individual needs as expressed by parents/carers.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
We will take into account the needs and wishes of the child.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
We will support the parents/carers to access the child’s needs and wishes.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
We will support the providers and the provision to enable them to realise the needs and wishes of the child.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
We will support the process of inclusion and promote inclusive environments.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
We acknowledge the rights of all families to be part of their local communities.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
We will support environments that welcome all children and adults and who are committed to caring for, valuing and respecting all children and adults equally.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
This means that we will work with, rather than for people and that we will listen to what they say.

Why should we promote inclusion? Reasons for Inclusion

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO04

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
Inclusion is a human right and it makes good social sense.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
All children have the right to play together.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
All children are entitled to have the chance to join in a wide range of activities, whatever their race, sex, religion, language, ability or family background.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
Children should not be devalued or discriminated against by being excluded or sent away because of their disability or learning difficulty.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
Research shows that children do better both socially and academically when they are in an inclusive environment.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
Segregation teaches children to be fearful, ignorant and breeds prejudice.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
Only inclusion has the potential to reduce fear and to build up friendship, respect and understanding.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
The right to play is enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Inclusionandspecialneedssupport-outofschool-INTRO02
The Children Act (2006) recognised that all children need good quality play throughout childhood in order to reach and maintain their optimum development and well being.
