Building on the Sure Start programme, Children’ Centres are a key national government initiative to deliver better outcomes for children and families.

The Children’s Centres provide integrated care and education integrated care and education for young children, health services, family support, a base for childminders and for information.

This integrated approach provides holistic support for children’s development, support to families with young children and facilitates the return to work and training of those parents who wish to do so.

The vision of central government is to create a joined-up system of health, family support, childcare and education services so that all children get the best start possible in the vital early years.
