14-19 Quality Framework

Following a quality audit across all 14-19 providers on the Isle of Wight in 2004-05, the Local Authority appointed a 14-19 Consultant to support the development of consistent quality assurance procedures. The 14-19 Quality Forum was established in October 2005 and is made up of representatives from education and training sectors and support agencies.

The 14-19 Quality Forum has compiled a 14-19 Quality Framework to ensure that robust quality assurance procedures are fully embedded and lead to improved standards across all 14-19 providers on the Island.

The remit of the 14-19 Quality Forum is to:

  • encourage greater sharing of current quality assurance practices
  • assess the effectiveness of current quality assurance procedures in bringing about quality improvement
  • identify key areas for development
  • research good practice
  • produce guidelines and principles of good practice for 14-19 provision across the Island, which will support self evaluation/assessment processes
  • ensure greater consistency and compatibility between procedures used by 14-19 providers

The 14-19 Quality Framework includes guidance, key features and case studies to support the review and development of quality assurance systems. It also includes weblinks to a range of toolkits.
